Logo design for Shui Urban Spa, a five-star day spa located in Shanghai.
The architect conceptualized an all-white space, with the illusion of color being created only by light and shadow. I ran with that concept and designed a three-dimensional white-on-white logo using cast shadows to create form.
Shui, in Chinese, means “water.” The meandering river is viewed by the Chinese as being very lucky, as is the square, which according to my research, is the most auspicious shape for period 9 Feng Shui.
Having to think outside the box more than usual, I really enjoyed working on this project. I also designed a few of their WALL INSTALLATIONS and PRINT collateral, all of which which you can view by clicking on the links.
